Paper Piecing with Lily Pad Dies

Paper Piecing with Lily Pad Die
I love paper piecing, and the Lily Pad Dies are beautiful when done with this technique.  I love watching it come together.  This card looks like it is just die cut and letting the paper under the solid card stock show through, but paper piecing the flower gives it a smooth finished look.  I will list the supplies I used below.  the only thing that will not appear in my supply list is my navy seam binding ribbon.  I grabbed some from my sewing room.
My base card is 4 1/4 x 11 inches scored and folded making a wide or landscape
card.  Next I chose a piece of Lily Impressions Designer Series Paper cut 5 1/4 x 4 inches and centered it on the front of my card.
I cut a piece of Balmy Blue Card Stock 4 3/4 x 3 1/2 inches.  I die cut my flower from Whisper White card stock.  Glue the whisper white die on your blue card stock in the place you want it. Next, die cut the same flower from a scrap of your DSP paper. You may want to move your die over your paper to pick up your print and colors where you want them to appear in your flower.  After you run your die through, carry it over to your work place on the plate, so your pieces won't move, scatter, or get lost on the floor.  This is the voice of experience speaking!  Then, just start transfer the inside pieces of the cut die to the inside of your flower using just a small dot of glue.  It doesn't take much to hold it in place.  I find it best to put the tiny drop of glue inside the white flower, then place the paper piece in using tweezers.  Die cut your stem and add it last.
I used a sentiment from the Peaceful Moments Stamp set, and die cut it using the Stitched Nested Labels.
Before I assembled the card front, I wrapped a navy blue seam binding ribbon around the card stock and tied it on the stem. I added the sentiment on top using dimensionals to help anchor down the ribbon.  Then I attached the completed card stock on top of the front of the card with dimensionals.
It doesn't take very long to complete, but I must warn you, it can be addictive!
Happy Stamping!

Peaceful Poppies Card

Peaceful Poppies Card
(Great for giving Gift Cards)

I use this style of card when I am giving gift cards for Birthday gifts, or wedding gifts especially.  Gift cards are so pretty now, why not show them off?
I have listed the supplies I used at the bottom of the Blog.
This card is a standard size card (4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches.  It is a tall card with the fold at the top and opening up from the bottom.
I folded a piece of Poppy Parade card stock that was 4 1/4 x 11 inches in half scoring it at the 5 1/2 inch mark.  Then I cut the front panel short leaving only 1 1/2 inch flap at the top.  From the piece I cut off, I cut a piece 4 1/4 x 1 1/2 inches.  This is the bottom of the front panel.  I layered both the flap at the top and the strip at the bottom with white card stock (4 x 1 1/4 inches, and your Designer Series Paper 3 3/4 x 1 inch).  Then you will need to cut a piece of clear window sheet 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches.  With double sided tape, attach it under the top flap lining it up straight at the fold and the sides.  You may have to trim the sides and bottom a little if you wish when you finish.  It is difficult to get it perfect.  At least I have a little problem with it sometimes.  Once it is attached, use your double sided tape to add your strip on top of your window at the bottom of the card.  On the inside of the card, I attached a piece of Whisper White card stock 4 x 5 1/4 inches. I added a couple of the Peaceful Poppies Elements to the card to finish it.  There is no stamping on this card.  When I wish to give it, I will attach a gift card on the inside with a tiny glue dot just to hold it in place, and add my wishes at the bottom where the bottom strip will cover them.  Easy!

Mountail Air / Someone Special Card

Mountain Air / Special Someone Card
Good Morning Stampers.  I really enjoy pairing stamp sets together.  Today, I have used the Mountain Air Bundle, and the Special Someone with the new coordinating dies.  These dies will be released to purchase in a few days (February 4th)  I will give more information on the new products then.
The Mountain Air Stamps are photopolymer reversible stamps.  One side is a smooth image (which is what I  used to create the solid blue mountains), and the other side has a detailed image (the mountains in the front).  I added some shadow to the solid mountains with Blends pens.
The flower and leaves at the bottom right are Tropical Elements from last years catalog.  I picked them up on the Clearance Rack.  Really, anything will do to balance the card.  You could put the sentiment on the right.  I will list the supplies I used to create this card, but just not sure how long the Tropical Elements will be available.

Best Dressed Card

Best Dressed / Thanks for the Laughs
I was just in one of those moods today.  Yep, I felt like coloring outside the lines!!!
These two Stamp sets go together very well.
The DSP paper coordinates with the lip stick to create a funny card for you to send to your friend.  If we are blessed enough to have a friend that this sentiment goes to, then we are blessed indeed.  Those kind of friend ships are great therapy.
This card is very simple as you can see.  I created it in about 10 minutes.  I will give the supplies I used below.  I didn't have a die that was the size I wanted for the sentiment (can you imagine that!!), so I tore close around the sentiment, then dabbed the edges into the stamp pad to give an outline.  It looked good without that too, I was just playing.  I used my Stamparatus when stamping the lip stick smear so I could stamp it several times, making it very dark.  In order to match the lip stick itself, I used two colors layered--Dark Real Red, and Light Blackberry Bliss Blend pens.  The case is light and dark Smoky Slate Blends.

Little Ladybug Mini Cards
Happy Thursday!  Today is another crazy January day of 70 degrees.  With that being said, I found a live Ladybug around my kitchen sink this morning.  I know we are in South Carolina, and we have milder winters generally, but this is off the chart!
I thought I would create some Ladybug mini cards to use as gift enclosure cards.  I cut them 3 x 6 inches, fold them, then trim off 1/8 inch bottom and side so they will slid into an envelope easy.  Be sure to take this in to account when you cut your layers.  I have found if you don't trim them some, they can be a tight fit, especially with embellishments or dimensionals being used.
I will list all supplies I used below.  The little black gemstones I used are not a Stampin' Up! product.  They are just hanging around in my embellishments.  You could use black sequins. or buttons.  You don't really need to add them, but I think the card needs something like gemstones, a flower, etc.
I will go ahead and point out the elephant in the room and say my "Thank You" is not straight in my die, but, that's ok.  The stinkin' cute little ladybug makes up for it.
These little Lady bugs are a free Sale-A-Bration item you can earn with a qualifying order.  The dies I used to cut them out will be available February 4th-March 31st.  After that these stamps and dies will be gone.  Click HERE for information on earning free Sale-A-Bration items.
Happy Stamping!
